Maybe you've watched a video and wondered how anyone moves like that. Maybe belly dance has been sitting in the back of your mind for years — a "someday" you never quite got to. This is the someday.

Most intro classes give you one night to dip a toe in. This gives you 12 Tuesdays to actually arrive — to go from "I have no idea what my hips are doing" to feeling a rhythm move through you on purpose.

What You’ll Walk Away with

You won’t just know a few tricks. You’ll have built something that’s yours.

Foundations

Posture, body awareness, and isolations -- the skill of moving one part of your body while everything else stays still. It sounds simple. It is not. It's also the whole secret.

The Movements

Hip drops, lifts, and circles. Shimmies in more than one style. Undulations through the ribcage and spine. Chest isolations and belly rolls -- the vocabulary of the dance, one week at a time.

Footwork & Rhythm

Traveling steps that move you through space, and an ear for the music -- recognizing classic Middle Eastern rhythms and understanding how movement responds to them.

A Full Routine of Your Own

Individual movements become combinations. Combinations become choreography. By the end of the program, you'll have a complete belly dance routine you built, Tuesday by Tuesday.

This fall, The Dance Barre is launching Intro to Belly Dancing, our first full-length beginner belly dance program: 12 full weeks built for people who have never tried this before. But before you commit to anything, we want you to come try it. Free.

Join instructor Katherine Logsdon for a low-pressure, zero-experience-needed Demo Day. No rhythm required. No background in dance needed. Just show up curious and see what your body can do.

This is not a sales pitch disguised as a class. It’s genuinely just a chance to feel what belly dance is like before you decide if the 12-week program is right for you. Come with questions. Leave with a hip drop or two already in your body.
