A 12-week movement program at The Dance Barre
Move freely.
Twelve Saturday mornings of music, movement, and body awareness, for adults who want to keep doing the things they love.
Free Demo DaySaturday, January 9, 10:00 to 11:15 AM
No dance experience needed. Come as you are.
You know how your body moves better on some days than others? This program helps you build more of the good days. Over 12 Saturday mornings, you will move to music, learn how your feet, hips, spine, and breath work together, and find your own version of every movement. Nobody expects you to copy anyone else. Holly Nastasi leads the class, and there is no wrong way to do this.
Try it free at Demo Day, or sign up now.
Sound familiar?
- Getting out of the car takes a moment longer than it used to.
- You miss being swept up by a song.
- You want to get down on the floor with the grandkids, and back up, without planning it.
- You exercise, but nothing makes you want to come back.
- You watch a dance class and think, “I can’t do that.”
You are in the right place. This program was designed for adults who want to feel at home in their bodies, at whatever age, with whatever experience.
What 12 weeks give you
-
Freedom of movement
Turn, reach, bend, and get down to the floor and back up with more confidence.
-
Strength for daily life
Build strength and balance through movements that look like your real life, like carrying, climbing steps, and staying steady while you move.
-
A body you know
Learn how your feet, hips, spine, and breath work together, and how a small change in one place changes everything else.
-
Joy
Move to music again, and let the song lead.

Questions people ask
Do I need dance experience?
No. Holly shows you how to adapt each movement to your body and comfort level, so you can join in at your own level from the first minute.
I feel nervous about my first class. Is that normal?
Yes, plenty of people feel that way. Holly welcomes new people by name, and starting in the back row is fine. Demo Day is free, so you can try a class before you decide anything.
I have a sore knee, hip, or back. Can I still take part?
Holly shows you how to adapt every movement to your body and comfort level, and you choose your effort. If you have a medical concern, please check with your doctor before you start. [PLACEHOLDER: Ellen and Holly approve this health line and the waiver language]
Will it be a real workout?
Yes, if you want one. The class builds flexibility, agility, mobility, strength, and stability, and you set how hard you work.
What if I miss a Saturday?
[PLACEHOLDER: missed-week policy, for example make-up options]
Can I join after the first Saturday?
Each week builds on the last, so enrollment closes before the first Saturday. [PLACEHOLDER: Holly confirms whether anyone can join late, and what a late joiner can do instead]
Is this class only for older adults?
No. The Dance Barre is an adult-only studio, and Move Freely welcomes every adult. It was designed for people who want to keep moving well for the long run.
Do I have to be a Dance Barre member?
No. Anyone can enroll at the early bird or standard price, and your enrollment includes an unlimited Dance Barre membership for the 12 weeks. If you are already a member, email us at hello@dancebarrebcs.com and we will help you sign up.
What is Nia?
Nia is the movement practice behind the class. It blends dance, martial arts, and healing arts, set to music. You do not need to know anything about it before you come.
Ready to move freely?
Come to Demo Day on Saturday, January 9. It is free and friendly, and you can decide afterward. Or sign up now. Early bird pricing runs through midnight on Demo Day.
